It was then expected that NHS would invest a further total of  £12.4 billion on this programme over ten year (House of Commons, 2007). The main reasons for the failure of this project were issues with data management, patient confidentiality problems, and missing numerous deadlines; NPfiT has it all as stated by (Poole, 2011). The UK government decided to hold back the project even though the expenditure had sored above the  £11 billion mark. There are various other problems in addition of the main problems found such as (Smith, 2011) stated that it became clear that some suppliers did not have the capabilities that were needed to do what was actually required. If suppliers were not capable to be apart of this project would slow the project down and also it could lead the project to miss a lot of milestones and deadlines. (Smith, 2011) also mentioned that the key users lacked in commitment to the Programme from the beginning and that suppliers also had to develop their systems and go out to sell them.
